Why Diet When You Can Live Healthy?
I’m going on a DIET; this statement has the power to strike fear in the hearts of women everywhere. OK, maybe that was a little over-dramatic; however, it is no secret that at any given moment not only do most of us know someone on a diet, but also how unhappy they are to be on one.
“I’m starting my diet today. Well maybe tomorrow. You know what it may be best to start next Monday since it’s the beginning of the week, right?” I’m guilty of this logic, are you?
The problem with this scenario is that the average person mentally chooses to take the path of the dreaded diet instead of committing to live a healthy lifestyle. When you hear the word diet you think no fun, restrictive activity, a burden; which means you are losing the race before it starts because no one willingly and with a smile goes into a frightful situation.
The solution is to commit yourself to living a healthier lifestyle and start small. Seek to switch one of your usual unhealthy snacks with a piece of fruit and take a brief walk around the block on day one. As you progress through this process begin adding healthier options and subtracting some of your unhealthier habits like eating junk food or taking the elevator instead of the steps. This will ensure that you don’t set your short term goals too high.
Attempting to go from 0 to 10 will set an unrealistic mission and when it isn’t reached discouragement will threaten your overall success. Choosing to live a healthier lifestyle is a process, you must start small and be dedicated; however, be warned you won’t feel or see the results tomorrow, but in the long run you will be much more likely to reach your goals. A diet is a short-term option, which often leads to short-term results and short-term happiness. However, when you chose to live a healthier lifestyle you choose to permanently change your overall self for the better.
