Devils vs. Kings

The Stanley Cup Finals began last week with the New Jersey Devils and Los Angeles Kings facing off. Two games have been played so far and the LA Kings won both. Even more interesting is that both games went into overtime and had a final score of 2-1. Tonight the series shifts to California with the Kings hosting the devils at 8 p.m. ET with NBC Sports Net carrying the game.

Hockey fans are especially intrigued by this match up because the LA Kings are an 8 seed. That means they were the last team in the Western Conference to clinch a playoff spot. Also to note is that the Devils were the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.

NHL history is being made as an 8 or a 6 seed has never won the Stanley Cup. This year the Cup will be won by the lowest seed ever regardless of which team wins four games first. In the future I’m sure this will be referred to as one of sports Cinderella stories, so make sure you tune in tonight for game three!
